Comparisons
This directory is the readable similarity layer of the atlas.
Use it in three levels:
- Motif Occurrence Index: generated from extraction records; shows where motif tags appear.
- Curated comparison pages: human-readable cross-cultural pages with tables, evidence links, and cautions.
- Pattern essays in patterns: broader interpretive essays about motif families.
Current Curated Pages

Reading Rule
An occurrence means a passage has evidence for a motif. A comparison means two or more occurrences share a function, image, or narrative role. Historical contact is a stronger claim and must be marked separately.
